OPEN NETBALL CARNIVAL HELD INQUEANBEYAN

On a bitterly cold day with a maximum of 8 degrees, Karabar's Open Girls and Open Boys team participated in the Zone Netball Carnival at the Steve Mauger Courts. The Open Girls team came 3rd in the Zone. This was an excellent result as Karabar had a young team with Alana Bowyer and Taela Hitchcock in Year 7 playing strongly in attack.

Tahlia Christoffersen's accuracy in goal shooting was complemented by the agility and positioning of the feeder players, Hayley Bowyer and Emma Quinnell. Hayley's ball control up the court helped stabilise the team. Kattarna Davy displayed her versatility playing both defence and centre. In defence Lara Bowyer was outstanding and was ably supported by Laura Beer, Maddie Dove and Melany Budakoski. The future looks promising for netball as these players develop as a team. Thanks also go to Rhiannon Lilley who umpired for the girls team.

The Open Boys team finished second in the Zone and will now progress to the next round. Miles Thompson, Rhys Ebert and Lachlan Whan provided stability as members from last year's winning team.

They were ably supported by newcomers Wade Ganzerla, Matt Chapman, Danny McDougall, Adrian Gulliford, Hayden Turbitt and Jacob

As the organising school Karabar was well supported by parents and students and we would like to thank them for their continuous support. Cherie and Maddison Whan umpired not only the Karabar games but assisted other teams on the day. Jo and Janelle encouraged the teams vocally and assisted in scoring. Thanks also to Phil for the photographs. A great day was had by all despite the cold!
