Parents and Citizens' Association

What is a P&C?
The P&C is a group of interested people who bring the school and the community into close co-operation. It is the representative voice of parents/carers with children at Karabar High School.

Why join? What's in it for me?
Research has shown that the vital ingredient for student learning is parental participation. As a parent you have the right:

-to know and participate in the development of the plans and policies for running Karabar High School

-to access complete and accurate information about our children's progress

-to get information on the courses and educational programs that Karabar High School offer.

Karabar High School is a multi-faceted school that caters to a wide range of students and their needs. The P&C work together with the Principal, the Staff, the School Council and the Student Representative Council (SRC) to make a difference at Karabar High.

Things are on the move and you can be part of what is happening at the school.

Your voluntary contributions at work!

Each year we ask for a voluntary P&C contribution from each student so that we can continue to achieve things for the school community.

What have the P&C been involved in?
The P&C are involved in a number of key areas at the school such as welfare, curriculum, environment and planning for the future.

Since mid 2008 we have funded and been actively involved in the school beautification project which has to date achieved:

-replanting the main gardens in the grassed area at the front entrance

-established two new gardens at the front of the school

-built and planted the library pathway from the front of the school to the quadrangle

-supplying crushed gravel to specific areas around the school (under the COLA in the quadrangle and along the Library pathway)

-planted the garden in the upper quadrangle

Our plans for the future?

For 2010, we are continuing with the school beautification project and will now focus on the quadrangle/oval area with plans developed including new gardens, removal of wooden fence and replacement with metal fence, large artwork, new large pots, a memorial garden and general replanting of the area.

Who can join the KHS P&C?
The KHS P&C is open to everyone, parents, caregivers, grandparents, teachers, students and members of the whole community.

We understand that new patterns of family life, employment and leisure activities have led to competing demands on your valuable time and that this reflects social change not lack of interest. If you can come along we would love to see you!

When and where is the KHS P&C held?
We meet on the 4th Tuesday of each month in the Karabar High School Conference Room at 7.00pm.
