The Australian Defence Force

There are a variety of careers available in the Defence Forces. There are positions in the Army, Navy and Airforce as Officers or as General Entry. General Entry positions usually involve on the job training or are trade oriented. Each servicehas a range oftechnical and non-technical trades, such as mechanics, cooks and electricians. The Australian Defence Forces Academy (ADFA) is a campus of the University of New South Wales and is located in Canberra. At this institution, recruits not only undertake training to become a Defence Forces Officer, but also undertake a university degree. Entry to ADFA is very competitive.
